This unusual portrait is held in the collection of The Royal Irish Fusiliers. The portrait of a Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the 89th Regiment is so described because an NCO of that era is not the usual subject for a portrait, normally the preserve of senior officers or those from wealthy or titled families.
